THE HISTORY OFTHE NIPPLEPASTY FROM BURLESQUE DANCERS TO MILEY CYRUS

 Miley Cyrus
Nipple pasties are having a moment. Miley Cyrus, who wore the accessory to a performance on Wednesday night, joins others, including Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Cara Delevingne, and Rihanna to give the look a try. Tom Ford even featured couture nipple covers in his most recent runway collection. While the sticker is currently trending, it actually has a deep history in the fashion world.
When Lil’ Kim showed up to the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards wearing a one-shoulder jumpsuit that completely exposed her breast, the moment marked the birth of the nipple pasty. The sequin sticker covered up her areola but left nothing else to the imagination. While the rapper might have given the look a modern feel and brought the look into mainstream pop culture, nipple tassels had actually been around long before Lil’ Kim.
