Bill and Melinda Gates are the world's wealthiest couple according to a report out today from Wealth-X. Bill Gates famously dropped out of Harvard and co-founded Microsoft (MSFT, Tech30) in 1975 with Paul Allen.

Bill and Melinda are known for their high-profile Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which supports initiatives in education, world health and population and has donated more than $28 billion to philanthropic causes.


2.  Amancio Ortega Gaona and Flora Perez Marcote  - Net worth: $70.7 billion
Spanish businessman Amancio Ortega Gaona became Europe's richest man after founding the successful global fashion chain Zara in 1975.


Zara is now part of a wider group of fashion labels under parent company, Inditex (IDEXY), along with brands Pull and Bear, Massimo Dutti and Bershka.

3.  Warren Buffett and Astrid Menks  - Net worth: $65 billion
Famed billionaire investor Warren Buffett married his second wife Astrid Menks in 2006, two years after the death of his first wife Susan Buffett.

Around the time of their nuptials, Buffett's daughter Susie Buffett reportedly told the New York Times that she was thankful they were together.B"She loves him and takes care of him. If Warren didn't have a cent, she'd be with him," she told the newspaper.
