Animal mash-ups: These eight hybrids are both cute and terrifying

Enterprising artist Sarah Derememer has created her very own bizarre animal species - by merging together photos of different creatures.

Californian Sarah, 25, started making hybrid animals as a way to improve her photoshop skills.

Now she's produced a set of completely new creatures by merging the cutest members of the animal world with the most ferocious.

Each image can take up to four hours to complete and Sarah works with 20 layers on the picture to make the combinations seamless.

Sarah said: 'I really enjoy the juxtaposition between cute and scary animals, such as a growling wolf on a pygmy marmoset, or a snarling tiger on a baby monkey.

'It's hard to pick a favorite, but I really enjoy both the 'Birboon' and 'Little Bit' because they're such adorable little birds with such character from the yawning animals.

'I also really love the White Tiger Monkey because the two animals included are so drastically different but go together so well.'
